The Cesiomaggiore folk group costume reproposes the typical dresses, worn on the holydays, of the Feltre and Belluno valleys farmers at the end of the 19th century. The costume is composed of few but essential dresses, as comes form the historical research the group made. Some costumes are original, other ones are made up in conformity with the original model, using hand weaved cloths. The genuine leather shoes are hand made by a trustworthy shoemaker. The shoes are exact copy of the original model even on the making up way. The ankle-deep shoes are closed with leather laces. Man and woman shoes are different because of the woman ones have a more protruding heels and the laces end with little leather bows.

The man costume The partners wear brown trousers and jackets made with wool cloth. The trousers are supported by the blue wool “fassa”. On the cotton or hemp rope shirt the men wear a double-breasted red cloth waistcoat. An handkerchief end, ones called “fazolet tabacon”, juts out of trousers pocket. The socks are made by hand worked sheep wool; the hat is made by black felt, with feather ornament. |

The woman costume The women wear cotton and hemp rope or flax and hemp rope skirts. On the skirt they have the “traversa”, from which hang down some colourful ribbons as ornaments; under the skirt women wear a large petticoat with lace flounces and knee-length knickers. The socks are made by hand worked cotton with red and white lines. On the white shirt they wear a corsage and, on their shoulders, a little crocheted shawl. On the head women wear a wool headscarf with colourful flowers printed on black background; the silver pins fix the headscarf. The precious period jewels (almost all original) enrich the costume; they are garnet or coral necklaces, with filigree stars, brooches pinned on the shirt and ear-rings. |
